Almark Foods expands Recall to all Products from its Georgia Facility

Almark Foods is expanding its voluntary recall first announced on December 20, 2019, to include all hard-boiled eggs manufactured at the firm’s Gainesville, Georgia facility, including all retail, pillow pack, pouch pack, frozen diced, and protein kit products, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, reports the Georgia Department of Public Health.  Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.  The products were distributed nationwide. Customers who have purchased these products are urged to immediately discard and not consume the products. This voluntary recall is being made in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
