8U Boys win District 7 Basketball Championship

Three Rabun County Recreation Teams recently competed in the District 7 Tournaments and one of the teams won the championship, tells Adam Dixon, Athletic Director for the Rabun County Recreation Department.  “Well, our 10U Girls went over to Lumpkin County and faced a really tough Lumpkin County team, who ended up winning the district. Our 10U Girls lost in the semi-finals, but we are really proud of them. Then our 12U Girls were eliminated in the semi-finals by Oglethorpe County, who lost to Lumpkin County in the finals.  So, we got to host that tournament and had a lot of people in Rabun County. We’re really proud of our 12U Girls. Our 8U Boys Team won the tournament here and really didn’t have a big challenge. Coach David Adcock, who is the Rabun County High School Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, and coaches the 8U Boys because he has two sons on the team and they were the best team in the district.  We will host again starting Friday, the 8U Boys State Tournament. We have teams coming from all over the state.” The Rabun County Recreation Department will host the 8U Boys State Tournament this weekend, March 6-7.
