26 die on Georgia Roads during Independence Day Holiday Period

There were 26 fatalities on Georgia roads and highways during the 102-hour Independence Day Holiday weekend.  The holiday travel period began at 6pm on July 3, and concluded at 11:59pm on July 7. Statewide, Georgia State Troopers investigated 513 traffic crashes resulting in 307 injuries and 17 fatalities.  In addition to the traffic crash investigations, 422 people were arrested for driving under the influence, while 12,554 citations and 16,846 warnings were issued.
