Two Wrecks on Monday in Rabun County

Deputies of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office worked two wrecks in the county on Monday, August 3.  The first happened at 10:15am on Persimmon Road when the driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer dropped a cigarette in his lap while driving, looked down to find the cigarette, and ran off the road striking a mailbox, sign, and driveway before coming to rest in a ditch.  No one was injured in the single-vehicle collision.  The second occurred at 5:19pm on Highway 441 South in Clayton when the driver of a 2018 Ford F550 said she was not used to driving the large work truck, didn’t swing wide enough to clear a 2011 Toyota Sienna, and struck it in the rear.  No one was injured in the two-vehicle collision.
