Two DUI Arrests in Rabun Co.

Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office recently made two arrests for driving under the influence (DUI).  The first took place at 11:23pm on April 19, 2020, at the intersection of Brandon Mill Road and Lily Lane in Lakemont.  A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for a tail light violation  The deputy smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and initiated field sobriety tests.  After failing those, 34-year-old Travis Wayne Mcelhannon of Clarksville was arrested for DUI and tail light requirements.  The second DUI arrest happened at 10:23pm on April 25, 2020, on Blacks Creek Road in Mountain City.  A deputy responded to a vehicle stuck in a ditch.  While speaking to the driver, 37-year-old Jodie Michelle Tyler of Mountain City, the deputy smelled alcohol on her breath.  She refused to take field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI and failure to maintain lane.
