Tropical Storm Colin Could Affect Gas Prices, according to AAA

Tropical Storm warnings have already been issued to portions of east central Florida due to Tropical Storm Colin’s expected landfall reach today. The path of Colin may affect coastal Georgia and portions of South Carolina, and may bring a series of storms up to the mountains.

However, according to AAA, any storm during the Atlantic Hurricane season could impact gas prices, including this week with Tropical Storm Colin. This can lead price spikes in regional markets along the coast and in areas that rely upon crude oil and refined product from these regions.

Good news, however, is that 2016 summer driving season is officially underway and drivers are paying the lowest gas prices for this time of year in more than a decade. The average price for a gallon of gas in Georgia is $2.27.
