Torch and Flag Fun Run through Rabun County this Saturday

A “Torch and Flag Fun Run Through Rabun County” takes place this Saturday, July 27, 2019, tells Teka Earnhardt, Executive Director for the Rabun County Tourism Development Authority.  “Join us for a Torch and Flag Fun Run. We will remember back to when the Olympics were in Atlanta, Georgia and the Olympic Flame was carried through Rabun County on its way to the torch.  This was a fabulous time in the history of our county and we will embrace the memory by creating our own torch run. We will have local youth, campers, and maybe some visitors carry a torch along with the Bicentennial banner on the Fun Run route that starts at the vacant lot on Ramey Boulevard and ends at the Pavilions in Clayton for a ceremonial lighting of the torch.  We will also commemorate this special time in our county’s history with a time capsule burial. There will be old fashion field day activities for the whole family to enjoy to make this a true party as well. You will surely want to join in on the Fun Run festivities and then join us at the Pavilions in Clayton behind the Civic Center for the fun and festivities. The cost is $15 and you can register on the day of the Fun Run.”  This event is from 8-11am.
