Tallulah Falls Man arrested for Cruelty to Children

A Tallulah Falls man is facing two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts stemming from a domestic violence incident Friday night, Aug. 23, 2019.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that 43-year-old Howard Chesebro was arrested for one count of felony cruelty to children causing excessive physical or mental pain, one count of felony cruelty to children allowing a child to witness, one misdemeanor count of battery, family violence, and one misdemeanor count of battery, family violence.  The incident occurred around 9pm, Friday on Railroad Street in Tallulah Falls. Deputies were dispatched to the address and spoke with a man, who stated that Chesebro hit his fiance and her 16-year-old son. Chesebro allegedly wanted everyone to leave the residence and pushed both the mother and son down. The mother was shoved over a concrete wall a couple of feet high into a pile of rocks near the house.  Then the son began fighting with Chesebro until deputies arrived on the scene. According to the incident report, deputies smelled alcohol on Chesebro’s breathe. A 10-year-old child witnessed the incident taking place in the front yard of the home. Habersham EMS was called to the scene to treat the mother and son for scratches and abrasions. Chesebro was arrested and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the four charges.  All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
