Small Increase in Supplement for Faculty, Staff

The Rabun County Board of Education held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting Thursday night.

During the meeting, the board discussed a small increase in the local supplement, which Rabun County School Superintendent Matt Arthur said would work out to between a one hundred a two hundred dollar per year increase for the faculty and staff.

“Bottom line is, I’m recommending 5% of the local supplement,” said Arthur. “To give you an example, a classified personnel with 15-16 years, you’re looking at a raise of around $123.”

A motion to approve Arthur’s recommendation was made and passed unanimously by the board members in attendance.

It has been five years since an increase in the local supplement, which Arthur described as an incentive for teachers to come to and stay in Rabun County, especially with rising insurance costs.
