Rabun Gap holds a Special Convocation to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School held a special convocation honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15, 2024, for grades 4-12, featuring a show-stopping concert from gospel recording artist Karima Trotter. The convocation also included our Rabun Gap dance company performing King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, eighth-graders educating the audience on King’s life, and students reciting the “Let Freedom Ring” speech in their own languages. In the afternoon, Upper School students engaged in workshops focused on the civil rights movement and Dr. King’s work while exploring connections in our own lives. In addition, Middle School students heard from local non-profit leaders from Foxfire, the Rotary Club of Clayton, and Five Freedoms Farms as a focus on King’s commitment to service. They also engaged in cross-cultural conversations with our international students and created original artwork.
