Rabun County Trends Downward in Unemployment

The Georgia Department of Labor announced last week that the state’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for March was 6.3 percent, unchanged from February, matching its lowest level since July 2008. The rate was 7.3 percent a year ago.  Local and area unemployment numbers were released this week by the Georgia Department of Labor. Rabun County saw a positive move in numbers, dropping from an 8.3% unemployment rate in February to a 7.6% unemployment rate in March of 2015. The 7.6% betters March of 2014 by almost 2 whole points as the unemployment rate for the county a year ago was 9.5%. The rate for the Georgia Mountains region dropped only slightly from month to month, moving from 5.4% in February to 5.2% this March.
