Rabun Co. Sheriff attends GA LEEDS

In order to successfully work in law enforcement, officers are required to undergo yearly training.  Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols attended such a training seminar at the FBI Atlanta Field Office last week.  “I attended the 11th session of the Georgia LEEDS, which stands for the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar.  So, I guess 11 years ago the FBI came up with a way of building partnerships with local agencies here in the state of Georgia but also providing them with some good training.  So, we went for a week of training and it covered various topics from taking care of your employees to leadership courses to legal topics. It was also a good week of networking as there were about 120 of us in this course from all over the state of Georgia plus the FBI.  So, we were able to build relationships that could help us in the long term here in Rabun County but also just to get a lot of refreshing on some of the training I took before just to bring back and use here in Rabun County. Plus to gain knowledge from the FBI on what they can provide to local agencies.  I thought I had an idea of what all they did but after being down there and listening to what they can do there is a whole lot more than even what I assumed they did. So, it was a very good training as far as educational but also as far as building those relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement.  I’m just so glad I got selected to go.” Sheriff Nichols added that the Georgia LEED seminar was a great opportunity to learn more about federal partners and what they can do to assist agencies in investigations and critical incidents.
