Public Hearing for Clayton’s Sign and Zoning Ordinance To Be Determined

During the Clayton City Council meeting last week, the sign and zoning ordinance was discussed by city marshal Scott Crane.

During the work session, Crane and the council talked about revamping the current ordinance, whether it be to make changes to the current ordinance, receive assistance from the Carl Vinson Institute at the University of Georgia, or to write a brand new one. The current ordinance, that was installed in 1993, states that a business in downtown Clayton can have a sign that is 30 feet tall, with 100 square foot frontage.

The decision made last week was to hold off on making a decision until a public hearing can be scheduled, which is expected to take place during next month’s city council worksession.
