“There is one fatality. The plane is sitting in a heavily wooded area. FAA and NTSB, it’s going to be their scene when they get here, and they’ll do all the investigation for the aircraft.”
It has been confirmed that the pilot was Ernie Merkelis . The plane took off from Heaven’s Landing headed for Chicago under conditions described as “low visibility” by those at the Air strip. The plane struck a mountain top shortly after take off. We will bring you more details as they are released.
