Piedmont College Announces Alumni Weekend

Piedmont College alumni and friends are invited to four days of reunions, food, and fun April 7–10, 2016, in Demorest. The celebration will include a scenic railway tour, theatre performances, socials, and two awards banquets.

Alumni Weekend will kick off on Thursday, April 7, with a trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, leaving at 8 a.m. Piedmont College Theatre will present “Six Characters in Search of an Author” each day of Alumni Weekend, with performances set for 7:30 p.m., April 7–9; and 2 p.m., April 10. On Friday, April 8, alumni and friends can meet for a shuttle tour of the campus, followed by a reception for the Classes of 1966 and 1976 at the President’s Home and a reunion dinner for all alumni at 6 p.m. in the new Student Commons.

Saturday events include a breakfast for The Torch honor society at 9:30 a.m. in the Commons and the Alumni Association annual meeting at 10:30 a.m. in the Swanson Center. The P-Club will induct new members at a noon luncheon in the Commons. This year’s award recipients are Michael Santowski (’06), baseball; Lindsey Hughes (’06, M’07), women’s tennis; and Terry Martin, head softball coach.

Also on Saturday, the annual Alumni Awards Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in the Commons. This year’s recipients include Distinguished Alumni – Michael Barden (’77 posthumous); Alumni Service – Michael Williams (’91); Excellence in Education – Laura Lord Boswell (EdS ’03); and Pacesetter – Bryan Schroeder (’03).

Alumni Weekend 2016 will conclude on Sunday, April 10, with a 2 p.m. performance of “6 Characters in Search of an Author,” at the Swanson Center. Alumni Weekend will also include a number of Piedmont College varsity athletic events, including home games by the men’s and women’s tennis and lacrosse teams and softball team.
