More Details on Car Chase Earlier This Week

A high speed car chase begins in Dillard and spans three counties before the driver was apprehended.

Dillard Police Chief Shane Watts says that a Dillard Police Officer spotted the vehicle traveling South on Highway 441 in Dillard on Wednesday.

“The vehicle was a BOLO vehicle out of North Carolina for reckless driving. The officer clocked the vehicle with radar going 80 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour speed zone.”

Watts says the officer initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle did pull over, only to take off once the officer was out of his patrol car.

The officer along with backup from the Rabun County Sheriff’s Department followed the vehicle to Tallulah Falls, where the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office continued the chase.

Ultimately, the Georgia State Patrol took over the chase, which ended in White County.
