Meth lands Clayton Man behind Bars

Methamphetamine charges have landed a Clayton man behind bars.  On Aug. 16, at approximately 9:48pm, deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Georgia 15 near the On The Run gas station in Mountain City.  While speaking to the driver of a 1998 Dodge pickup truck, deputies could smell the order of alcohol coming from his breath. A field sobriety test and a search of his vehicle were conducted. Deputies discovered a small pack of Evan Williams Cherry shot bottles, a large Maxwell House coffee container with two glass pipes with white residue suspected of being methamphetamine, and a small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine.  Deputies then arrested 55-year-old Paul Rawlins of Clayton for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, driving under the influence of multiple substances, and possession and use of drug-related objects. He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the three charges.
