Meeting planned on Rabun County Joint Comprehensive Plan

Rabun County is currently working with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) to update its Joint Comprehensive Plan.   This current effort is part of an overall planning process required by both state and federal directives, and updates of this type are done every five years.  A county-wide meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, at 7pm in the Rabun County Civic Center. This community meeting will be facilitated by a representative from the GMRC and is designed to solicit participant feedback and community input.  Collected data will be compiled to be shared with government officials and community leaders and will be included in the overall county and regional plan. Once this process is complete, the overall Regional Plan will then be updated in accordance with the rules established by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.   The Regional Plan will then identify both the issues and opportunities that impact Rabun County and will enable local officials to better manage community resources. The plan will also provide a forward-thinking work program to help coordinate support services for local governments and direct state activities for the region.
