Luncheon Teaches How to Avoid Burnout

The Professional Women’s Luncheon was held Thursday morning at the Kingwood Country Club.

Counselor and Psychotherapist Judy Wright spoke to those in attendance about the caretaker personality and avoiding burnout, a topic that appeared to be well received.

Wright says that to avoid burnout, one needs to make sure to keep a balance between one’s self, the others in one’s life, and one’s rules and values in order to be “self-full” and be able to give to others.

She used a pie divided into thirds to illustrate that point.

“My piece is going to say I count. The next piece is others count, and you know what? We count the same,” said Wright. “The third piece is going to be for rules and values. If you look at it, it really looks kind of like a ‘peace’ sign.”

Wright has thirty six years experience in her field.
