Human Remains Found in Rabun County

Human remains are found in Rabun County over the weekend.

A Rabun County resident discovered the body around 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of Bartram Trail near Darnell Creek. That resident notified the authorities.

Richard Arnold Masters

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene, and Sheriff Frank Andrews said investigators found clues that led them to believe it may be connected to a man who has not been heard from since mid-July.

“We do not know for sure, but there is a possibility that this may be our missing person Richard Arnold Masters from Kennesaw, Georgia.”

Although the remains have not yet been positively identified, the Masters’ family has already been notified of that possibility.

Rabun County Coroner Sam Beck transported the remains to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Division of Forensic Science for ID.

The case is still under investigation.

Masters was last heard from on July 19th of this year when his brother received a letter postmarked in the city of Clayton. His vehicle was found on July 26th at the unoccupied end of Kelsey Mountain Road in Sky Valley.
