Heavy Damage Right Next Door

Heavy Storms hit parts of Northeast Georgia Monday evening, in the neighboring County of Habersham severe damage was experienced, taking down trees, road signs, and damaging homes. The brunt of the storm was taken by the City of Clarkesville, says Clarkesville Fire Chief Jerry Palmer…

“As of 13:30 last night, after we did our street to street search, we had ten structures that were damaged, anywhere from moderate to minor, and we had four vehicles that were heavily damaged or destroyed by falling trees.”
Once the storm cleared, everyone was reported safe…
“as of 10:30 last night when we demobilized our command post, there were no injuries reported, so that’s a good thing. A lot of people were on the roads because it was 5:30, going home time from work, going out to eat time, or whatever, but all the people that were involved, that were in the structures hit by trees, no one was injured during all of this.”
Many thought a tornado had hit Clarkesville, though early reports from the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg indicate that the damage was the result of a Microburst and that no tornado was seen on radar.EMS Personnel from Tallulah Falls also assisted the Clarkesville Fire Department.
