Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and northeast Georgia, including Rabun County.  Widespread showers and some embedded thunderstorms will spread into the area on Monday, September 20, 2021, and continue through the night. Heavy rain potential will be focused near the Blue Ridge escarpment, with some risk for flooding, especially late in the night through the first half of Tuesday, September 21, 2021.  Heavy rain focused near the escarpment and in embedded thunderstorms will continue during the day Tuesday in response to a developing moist low-level jet. Additional heavy rain will be possible on Wednesday as a cold front crosses the region. The threat of flooding will possibly linger into Wednesday, as a result.
