Habersham EMC customers adds Cooperative Solar Program

Consumers served by Habersham EMC will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of solar energy without the costs and complications of rooftop solar panels, thanks to a new program by HEMC in partnership with Green Power EMC, a renewable energy cooperative.

Jonathan Cantrell, HEMC President/CEO, explains that under the HEMC Cooperative Solar program, members can receive energy from an offsite solar array that distributes energy to individual residences while avoiding the inconvenience of rooftop solar.

“Our new program allows members to subscribe to just the amount of available solar capacity that they need, while eliminating barriers such as improper roof orientation, shaded roofs, subdivision restrictions, landlord prohibitions and long-term contracts for solar panels,” said Cantrell.

HEMC Cooperative Solar program subscriptions are limited and participation is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. To determine if the program is suited for their specific needs, consumers should contact Habersham EMC online, or by phone: (706)754-2114, (706)865-4362 or (800)640-6812.
