GBI announces promotion of Tony Lima

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Tony Lima to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit in Decatur, GA. ASAC Lima will be responsible for the supervision of the Special Agents assigned to CEACC who conduct proactive and reactive investigations involving crimes against children and attempt to locate and rescue juvenile victims of commercial sexual exploitation.  ASAC Lima began his law enforcement career in August of 1998 with the Griffin Police Department as a patrol officer and narcotics agent. He then joined the GBI as a special agent in February of 2001 and was assigned as a crime scene specialist at the Crime Analysis Unit until 2005. At that time, he moved to Colorado and worked for the Arvada Police Department until 2011 as a patrol officer. ASAC Lima returned to the GBI in 2011 as a special agent at the Region 5 Statesboro office, and transferred to the Region 8 Cleveland office in 2014. In November 2015, he transferred to the Social Security Administration’s Cooperative Disability Investigations Unit where he was part of a federal task force that investigated allegations of Social Security Disability Fraud. In May of 2019, he transferred to the Polygraph Unit where he worked until his promotion on July 1, 2019.  ASAC Lima is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies. He is also a graduate of the National Forensic Academy at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. ASAC Lima has been a board member for F.A.I.T.H. (Fight Abuse In The Home) in Rabun County for approximately two years. F.A.I.T.H. is a non-profit organization that provides free and confidential services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in Northeast Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of three divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, and the Investigative Division. The agency has over 830 employees and a budget of $101 million. ASAC Lima is assigned to the Investigative Division.
