Freeze Warning tonight in Macon Co

Cold air is settling into western North Carolina, which combined with clear skies and diminishing winds, means the potential for freezing temperatures overnight tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Macon and surrounding counties effective at midnight through 9 a.m. Friday morning.

The possible sub-freezing temperatures could kill crops or other sensitive vegetation, says Doug Outlaw, with the National Weather Service.

“The freezing conditions are going to last for a few hours very late tonight through early tomorrow morning and that has potential to damage plants. Generally, if you have potted plants, bring them in from the cold. If they are planted in the garden, there’s not a whole you can do other than covering them up to protect them.”

According to forecasters overnight low temperatures will range from the mid-20s to the mid-30s depending your location.
