Former D1 Coach speaks at Rabun Gap

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School’s coaches and girls basketball players learned about sports psychology on Sunday, Sept. 8, from a former NCAA Division 1 coach.  Heather Macy is current head women’s basketball coach at Spartanburg Methodist in South Carolina. She coached at NCAA Division 1 East Carolina University where she was recognized as their All-Time Winningest Coach. Coach Macy gave a special talk to Rabun Gap coaches, focusing on emotional intelligence and the role it plays in coaching. She also spoke to Lady Eagles varsity basketball players.  “We were so excited to have Coach Macy on campus,” said Rabun Gap Athletic Director Dale Earnhardt. “Her invaluable experience on the court and focus on the psychology behind coaching was an asset to both our coaches and basketball players.” Founded in 1903, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory school serving students in PreK-12th grade day school and grades 7-12 for boarding school.
