Federal Grant to aid with NG911

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency has been awarded a federal grant of $3,994,283 to aid in the transition to Next Generation 911(NG911) services throughout the state. NG911 enhances service at the local level by improving response times and increasing caller location accuracy. While the transition is still in the planning phase, the long term goals of NG911 include receiving data from wireless callers such as pictures and videos. These capabilities can help dispatchers and first responders by providing them with real-time information about exactly what is happening at the scene.
