Falling Asleep behind the Wheel blamed in Two Wrecks

Two recent wrecks in Rabun County are being blamed on falling asleep behind the wheel.  The first occurred on Oct. 9, 2019, at 8:30am on Highway 76 near the South Carolina state line.  The driver of a 2017 Toyota Corolla told a deputy that she must have fallen asleep because she doesn’t remember crashing the vehicle as she went around a curve in the roadway.  The second happened on Oct. 9, 2019, at 6:13pm on Old 441 near Ice Plant Road. The driver of a 1999 Ford Ranger said he thinks he fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, which struck a fence and water manhole.  Fortunately, neither driver was hurt in the single-vehicle accidents.
