Energy Assistance Now Available

Ninth District Opportunities Community Resource Coordinator Crystal Vinson says that the Energy Assistance Program is now open for applications…

“The program opened November 3rd, for the elderly, so everyone in the household has to be 65 or older, or they have to be completely home-bound, and they don’t have an authorization representative to come and apply on their behalf.”

Vinson says that to start the process for an application is as easy as a phone call…

“They would have to call us to schedule their appointment with us, and we schedule that in accordance to the amount of funds that we have. We still have a pretty good amount of slots open, but again everyone has to be 65 or older for that program, or completely home-bound.”

Those not 65 or older will be able to apply in December…

“The program opens to the general public starting December 1st. As long as they fall in the income eligibility, they are entitled to that money.”

You can call 706-782-3704 or go online at NDO.org to schedule an appointment.
