Drug Arrest in Clayton

Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office made a drug arrest on Sept. 19, 2019, on Highway 76 West in Clayton.  The incident report from the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office states that at approximately 7:15pm, deputies responded to an address on Highway 76 West involving a suspicious person looking into windows of nearby residences.  Deputies located the man, 60-year-old Jerry Douglas Goodwin of Hiawassee, Georgia, and patted him down for weapons. That is when deputies discovered two plastic baggies, inside his cell phone case, containing a crystal substance suspected of being methamphetamine.  Goodwin was then arrested and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance. He was transported to the Rabun County Detention Center to be booked-in on the illegal drug charge. Goodwin is also facing charges from the City of Clayton Police Department.
