Drought Monitor

Drought conditions remain consistent from within the county.

According to the latest statistics from the United States Drought Monitor, Rabun County is still classified as abnormally dry, the same as last week.

This comes after a string of weeks in which Rabun County tried to break free of all drought conditions, but was unsuccessful.

Regionally, both Habersham and Stephens counties remain abnormally dry.

Oconee County, South Carolina, remains totally abnormally dry, while Macon County, North Carolina continues to be classified as abnormally as well.

As far as Lake Levels in Rabun County are concerned, Lake Burton is one and a half feet below full elevation, while Lake Seed is just over one foot below full elevation. Lake Rabun is nearly two feet low.
