Consolidation of Water and Sewer nearing Completion

The Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) announced the consolidation of water and sewer systems with the City of Clayton on October 2, 2023. RCWSA General Manager Brendan Thompson gives an update on the consolidation process. “Consolidation of the RCWSA and the City of Clayton’s Water and Sewer Systems is moving forward. We are working closely with the city. We will meet with the city folks on Friday, January 12, 2024, and review personnel assets, real estate, and facilities. Again, we are going to be discussing equipment and assets that they have like piping, fittings, and other things like that that we will be looking at to be transferred to the RCWSA. We have spoken with seven employees of the City of Clayton and we have interviewed those employees. We will be looking to send out offer letters for those the week of January 15th, with a deadline of January 19th for applications and January 31st for the final deadline for returning and letting us know if they are going to move to the RCWSA. So, we are looking forward to that and we are excited about that.” The RCWSA is also working diligently on its new business office in Clayton and plans to move into that in late February or early March, which will coincide with the closing for the consolidation process.
