Young Harris College’s Campus Gate Art Gallery is hosting the 2023 Student Juried Art Exhibition featuring artwork by YHC students. The exhibit opened on Monday, March 20, with a reception at 6pm in the gallery. The student work will be on display through Thursday, March 30. The exhibit is free and open to the public.  The Student Juried Art + Design Exhibition is an annual spring art show sponsored by the Young Harris Art Department and the Campus Gate Art Gallery. The exhibition was developed to showcase, award, and celebrate all creative achievements of Art and Graphic Design major and minor students as well as non-majors who have taken an art course at YHC.  “This annual exhibition showcases a variety of artwork in the categories of Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Graphic Design, Illustration, Video, 3D Sculpture, Ceramics, and Installation,” said Becky Miller, Director of the Campus Gate Art Gallery. “This gives our YHC students the opportunity to ‘place their work in the world’ and be recognized. We would like to give a special thank you to this year’s exhibition juror, artist, educator, and writer Marea Haslett from Cummings, Georgia. who did an excellent job. We would also like to thank the sponsors and generous donors of the show, Wendy Slaton and Stan Anderson.”  Juror Marea Haslett graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with an MFA in Painting in 2016 and has taught art for over 22 years. Her artwork is in private collections nationwide.  “Thank you for this opportunity to view and comment on all of your hard work,” said Marea. “I also want to extend my congratulations to all of you and your professors for a job well done. You are on your way. This path takes courage, commitment, and willingness to push through failure. Success can be fleeting, but the quest for Mastery will never disappoint.”
