Board of Education lowers Millage Rate

The Rabun County Board of Education voted today to lower the Millage Rate for Rabun County. Superintendent Melissa Williams explained why they were able to make the change to a 9.938% rate…

“We’ve taken some steps to make some cuts this year, you know, personnel issues that we’ve cut this year, people that we’ve not replaced due to attrition, and also the tax digest was up a little bit. So between our efforts to cut expenses and the efforts with the tax digest going up a little, we were able to cut the millage rate back.”

The millage rate stood at 3.97% before this afternoon’s unanimous vote.
