Antifreeze Warning

Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black is warning consumers who purchased antifreeze in Rabun County branded Pentofrost ++, Pentofrost NF, or Pentofrost SF to not use this product in their automobiles.

The antifreeze is not in compliance with Georgia’s antifreeze laws or standards.

As a result of House Bill 40, antifreeze sold in the state of Georgia must contain denatonium benzoate, a bittering agent, at a minimum of 30 parts per million and a maximum of 50 parts per million. During a routine inspection of these three brands, the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Fuel and Measures Lab discovered that these products only contained 20 parts per million of denatonium benzoate, which is below the minimum level.

The antifreeze manufacturer, CRP Industries Inc. of Cranbury, New Jersey is conducting a voluntary recall from all stores in Georgia.

Consumers who purchased antifreeze branded Pentofrost ++, Pentofrost NF or Pentofrost SF may return the product to the store of purchase for a refund.
