Rabun County’s Unemployment Rate Falling

The region’s unemployment rate sees continued improvement last month.

In March, the Georgia Mountain’s Region’s unemployment rate was 7.1 percent, down from 7.5 percent in February. Last March, the unemployment rate was an even 8 percent.

The number of unemployed went down by just over twelve hundred in the Georgia Mountain Region, and just over two hundred and fifty fewer initial claims for unemployment insurance benefits.

In Rabun County, the unemployment rate fell dramatically, down to 11.7 percent from 13.1 percent in February.

The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March checked in at 8.4 percent.
