Clayton Man arrested for Fleeing

On May 25, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office was traveling on Georgia 15 and observed the driver of a 1991 Mitsubishi Mighty Max truck with a cell phone up to his ear while driving.  The deputy got behind the truck and turned on the emergency lights.  The truck turned onto Bethel Road and did not stop.  The truck then turned on Ice Plant Road and began creating a large amount of dust.  A short time later, the deputy discovered the truck parked in the middle of Ice Plant Road, unoccupied.  The deputy found a footprint climbing up a bank in the direction of Georgia 15.  A few minutes later, an off-duty deputy saw a man run across Georgia 15 and jump into a car.  Another deputy was able to perform a traffic stop on the car and 25-year-old James Christian Andrews of Clayton was arrested for fleeing and distracted driving.
