Rabun County Spared During Thunderstorm

Things are relatively quiet in Rabun County during yesterday’s storm.

The Director of Rabun County Emergency Management Marty Dixon reports no major impacts from Wednesday’s storm which produced heavy rains and a tornado watch for the county but saw nothing develop.

A tornado warning was issued for some of the surrounding area yesterday afternoon, but did not directly impact Rabun County. Exactly two and a half inches of rain did fall during yesterday’s thunderstorm, however.

Scattered downed power lines were reported, but were repaired quickly by crews who were on call throughout the day.

Anytime severe weather is in the area, you can tune into Sky104 and Rabun County Radio for updates.

Macon County, North Carolina Schools are on a two hour delay, but that is the only delay in the area.
