Man arrested for Meth and other Offenses

Methamphetamine charges have landed another man behind bars in Rabun County.  On Sept. 17, 2019, around 4am, a deputy was traveling on Georgia 15 when he observed a motorcycle with no tag.  A traffic stop was initiated and a pursuit ensued. The motorcycle turned off onto Bethel Road with the deputy in pursuit.  Then in the area of Buzz Saw Lane in Tiger, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. The deputy called EMS to the scene as well as a wrecker to remove the crashed motorcycle.  Arrested as a result of the incident was 22-year-old Patrick Isaiah Burgess of Mountain City for possession of methamphetamine, fleeing law enforcement, failure to maintain lane, defective tires, wrong class of driver’s license, driving too fast for conditions, and no proof of insurance.  The suspected amount of methamphetamine was listed as 21.1 grams. Burgess was transported to Gainesville Hospital to be treated for his injuries. After that, he was taken to the Rabun County Detention Center to be booked in on the seven charges. This was merely an arrest and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
