Tallulah Falls holds Work Session on Comprehensive Plan

The Future Land Use Map of the Town of Tallulah Falls’ Comprehensive Plan is becoming a reality.  At a joint work session meeting on Monday, Sept. 16, the Town Council met with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Planning and Zoning Commission to restructure the map of the growing town, tells Tallulah Falls Town Clerk Linda Lapeyrouse.  “We had 13 of our members able to be there to work our Future Land Use Map as a part of the update to our Comprehensive Plan. We went through the character areas that are included in the plan and we took a blank map and strategically located those character areas on the map.  We basically started over on our map and got it to the point that the attendees at the meeting including the public that were there felt pretty comfortable using that as how they envision the future of Tallulah Falls. So, we are going to get a new draft. The Regional Commission is helping us with the map updates and our Comprehensive Planning updates so they will get us a new draft to look at.  We will take a look at it again hopefully on Oct. 3 when we have another joint work session to work on that map and we are going to look at our zoning map again.” Once the group finalizes a proposed map, a public hearing will be held before the Tallulah Falls Town Council votes on it.
