Fire Damages Home in Rabun Gap

A fire in Rabun Gap damages a home.

On May 30th, at approximately 1:16PM, deputies from the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home on Yorkhouse Road just south of Rabun Gap in reference to a structure fire that had been reported by an individual who was renting the house.

According to a report obtained by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, within ten minutes of units arriving, flames were visible from the top of the house. Fire crews worked thoroughly to extinguish the fire, but a majority of the home had been damaged.

Chief Investigator of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Jack Tanksley, advised the owners of the home that he has planned to bring in the fire marshal to investigate the cause, at this time, is unknown.
