Habersham Deputy Quickly Uses New Skill

A local agency adds another skill to their repertoire, and quickly uses it.

According to a press release that was posted on the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office’s facebook page, all Habersham Deputies have been trained by Project Dan and Georgia 911, to reduce incidents of overdose by equipping Law Enforcement officers with the prescription drug Naloxone/ Narcan by training these officers how to administer it properly.

Having that new skill has really paid off, because on December 30, Deputy Stephanie Bennett responded to the home of a person that has allegedly overdosed on heroine. That was when she administered Naloxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of an overdose. Due to this training, the subject is alive, and receiving treatment.

The Facebook went on to add that the Sheriff’s Office is proud of Deputy Bennett, and would like to thank Project Dan, for providing the equipment to save lives.
