Clayton City Council Post Three Runoff Election Totals Are In

The results are in.

Incumbent Debbie Chisholm will be re-elected to the Clayton City Council’s 3rd post.

The race was a tight one, as expected. Chisholm defeated Virginia Stewart by only 19 votes, 152-133.

According to Tammy Whitmire, supervisor of the Rabun County Board of Electors, there were 94 “day of” voters, which is respectable considering the weather conditions. She also says that 153 residents took part in early voting, as well as absentee voting.

Virginia Stewart spoke with us after the results were made official, and said that she would like to thank her supporters, and she “is still in the fight” for water consolidation.
