Early Voting for Run-Off Election Begins Next Week

During last week’s elections, three city council seats were voted on in the City of Clayton. The seat reserved for post 3 resulted in a tie between incumbent Debbie Chisholm, and challenger Virginia Stewart.

Board of Elections Supervisor Tammy Whitmire has made it official, that there will be early voting for this election being held on December 1st.

“We are going to be able to open up the poles on November 17th, and will have early voting from then until November 25th.” Whitmire says.

Whitmire also says that absentee ballots will be available upon request, due to early voting, as well as the election, being held during a time where most residents will be on Holiday vacation. Residents can call the Elections Office at (706) 782-1878, or e-mail [email protected] to request an absentee ballot. Be sure to include your name, address, and date of birth.

With this being a run-off election, only voters who were eligible to vote in November 3rd’s election will be able to vote in the run-off. If you became a registered voter in the City of Clayton on, or before October 5th of this year, you are eligible to vote in the runoff. This includes those who were registered, but did not take part in voting on November 3rd.
