Rabun County Early Voting Update: Confusion is Key Issue

With election season on the rise, early voting began for Clayton, Dillard, and Tiger on Monday. We caught up with Board of Electors, Tammy Whitmire, to ask how early voting was going.

“We are off to kind of a slow start,” Whitmire says, “We have had about 19 this week. But, we are still early in the game.”

Whitmire also told us that even though the voter turnout has been low to this point, the key issue has been confusion as to who is eligible to vote.

“Here in Clayton (at the elections office), we are doing Clayton, Tiger, and Dillard’s elections.” Whitmire says, “Sky Valley and Tallulah Falls are handiling their own elections. If you live in either one of those cities, you would need to vote at those city halls.”

Whitmire also offers help to those who are not sure if they reside in the city limits of Clayton, Dillard, or Tiger. If there is any doubt, she says that you can contact the Elections Office in Clayton at (706) 782-1878 to check.

Early voting will continue through October 30th at the Board of Elections Office on Jo Dotson Circle in Clayton. Voting times are from 8:30 A.M. until 5 P.M. weekdays.
