From Young Harris College

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College’s Rollins Campus Center has been recognized by Engineering News Record Southeast (ENR) as the 2015 Best Project in the higher education and research category for the Southeast region.

Entering its 15th year, the ENR Southeast Best Projects Awards Competition recognizes construction and design excellence in the Southeast region.

There were a total of 88 entries this year, with projects located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Of those 88, the ENR judges chose 39 entries for recognition.

“Our beautiful campus center beat out several large research buildings at major universities to earn the top spot,” said YHC President Cathy Cox. “The Rollins Campus Center has become an integral component of our students’ college experience, and I am thrilled it continues to garner the accolades and recognition it deserves.”

The largest building ever to be constructed at Young Harris, the Rollins Campus Center is the new social and intellectual heart of campus. Highlights include the 40,000-square-foot Zell and Shirley Miller Library, the elegant Charles Edwin Suber Banquet Hall, Chick-fil-A Express, Starbucks, and multimedia theater.

The 2015 award-winning projects will be highlighted in ENR Southeast’s November print edition.
