20 Year Comprehensive Plan Meeting Tonight in Rabun Gap

The community is invited to hear unincorporated Rabun Gap’s first 20 Year Joint Comprehensive Plan Update tonight, July 15.  This meeting will be facilitated by Adam Hazell, Planning Director for Georgia Mountain Regional Commission and the Department of Community Affairs.  This meeting will be held at 5:30pm in the Rabun Gap Nacoochee Middle School at 1411 Betty’s Creek Road in Rabun Gap. Every five years the community plan is updated.  This year’s plan update will give Rabun Gap residents an opportunity to say how they wish to see Rabun Gap shaped over the coming years. Citizens are encouraged to come and bring questions and concerns from all aspects of community life.  The 20 Year Joint Comprehensive Plan will contain a roadmap of Rabun County created by citizens for local government to consider as communities develop. Your questions about unincorporated areas like Rabun Gap are welcome. Environmental, zoning, codes and future development, conserving Rabun Gap’s history and the important role of the headwaters of the Little Tennessee River in this valley are critical areas to consider.
