Rabun County Drought Status Decreases Over Week

Last week, the southeastern portion of Rabun County fell under the “extreme drought” category, but due to recent rains, the report is a much happier one.

After receiving a grand total of an inch of rain last week, Rabun County’s drought status has been regressed to a severe drought. A majority of north Georgia counties have experienced severe drought conditions for a few weeks as the summer heat is now in full effect.

A portion of Habersham County, including Tallulah Falls, has fallen under the extreme drought category. Other northeast Georgia counties with partial or full extreme drought status include Stephens, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Franklin, and Hart Counties.
