City Council Will Not Increase Water Rate At This Time

The City of Clayton has released a statement concerning the recent water rate increase.

During the Clayton City Council meeting earlier this week, the topic of the water rate increase from the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority was discussed as a part of the agenda. Speaking with Clayton City Manager, Cissy Henry, she tells us what the city plans to do following that announcement.

“The water and sewer authority has a five year plan. They have currently increased the water rate to the city of Clayton to $2.86 per gallon.” says Henry. “The contract that stays in place states that we (Clayton) pay the $2.10 per gallon at a whole sale rate. We will not increase our water rate until this is settled in a lawsuit.”

Henry would also like to mention to the residents of Clayton, that if there is an issue concerning anything related to the city, that her doors are always open.

The Clayton City Council meets every third Tuesday of the month at 4PM inside the Clayton City Courtroom.
