Woman Arrested for Trafficking Cocaine

A traffic stop on Highway 441 over the weekend yields a drug arrest.

According to Chief Lindsey Owens with the Clayton Police Department, Officer Shawn Wilson initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 441 and Pinnacle Road early on Saturday morning. The vehicle was stopped because its headlights were not working properly while it was both dark and raining.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Leslie Dominique Blakley of Sylva, North Carolina, agreed to allow officers to search her vehicle after what was believed to be alcohol was smelled on her person.

After the search of the vehicle was complete, officers noticed an unusual lump in Blakley’s shirt.

When asked about that lump, the report states that Blakley proceeded to remove a large sum of cash, a tube believed to be a crack cocaine pipe, and 41 grams of cocaine from her shirt.

As she had more than 28 grams in her possession, Blakley was arrested on the charge of trafficking cocaine.

Owens said that a more detailed investigation is continuing into this incident.

“The Drug Enforcement Administration has contacted the Clayton Police Department,” said Owens. “Officer Wilson is following up with the DEA regarding this arrest.”

Blakley is now being held in the Rabun County Detention Center. She is set to go before the superior court judge, who will set her bond.
